Ghuana Nakouzi, PhD, FACMG

Director, HudsonAlpha Clinical Services Laboratory

Ghunwa Nakouzi is the director of the HudsonAlpha Clinical Services Lab (CSL), where she leads a team of experts in molecular genomics for rare disease and cancer diagnostics. Ghunwa holds certifications in clinical molecular genetics and genomics and clinical biochemical genetics from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Prior to joining HudsonAlpha as director of the CSL, Ghunwa held positions as the associate director of the CSL, assistant medical director of the Biochemical Genetics Lab at the Cleveland Clinic, and the Molecular Genetics Lab at University Hospitals-Cleveland Medical Center. Ghunwa received her bachelor’s degree in medical lab science and technology from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and her PhD in Genetics from Case Western Reserve University. Her research focused on the genetic and phenotypic response of neural tube defect mouse mutants to folic acid supplementation. Ghunwa completed her clinical fellowship training in clinical molecular genetics and genomics and clinical biochemical genetics at University Hospitals-Cleveland Medical Center with a unique experience in the laboratory diagnosis of rare mitochondrial function disorders through training at the Center of Inherited Disorders of Energy Metabolism (CIDEM).
